USDA Announces Funding for Rural Business Opportunities
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on Tuesday announced the selection of 16 recipients for grants to help spur economic development and create or save jobs in 17 states. The funds will go toward such projects as developing a data center in Maine, renovating a building into a commercial kitchen in Michigan and increasing the regional food system’s capacity to deliver fresh produce within Kansas and Colorado.
USDA Rural Development is providing assistance through the Rural Business Enterprise Grant program, which provides grants to small and emerging rural businesses for projects such as distance learning networks and employment-related adult education programs. Rural public entities, Indian tribes and rural, private nonprofit corporations are eligible to apply for funding under the program.
