Sara Ann Comer was a young farmer from York County who tragically lost her life during her senior year in college at Clemson University. Sara Ann intended to teach agriculture and was an advocate for many agriculture organizations, such as Farm Bureau, 4-H and the National FFA Organization. The annual Run4Agriculture not only raises scholarship funds, but also provides an opportunity to honor Sara Ann by advocating for agriculture and supporting local agricultural organizations.
There will be information tables available at the race for participants to learn more about agriculture in South Carolina, Ag education, the Young Farmers & Ranchers program, York County Farm Bureau and other local agricultural organizations. The Hickory Grove Volunteer Fire Department will also be hosting their annual barbeque and hash sale on the day of the race.
York County Farm Bureau is a grassroots, non-profit organization celebrating and supporting family farmers. By connecting farmers to the larger community, Farm Bureau cultivates understanding about agriculture’s importance to South Carolina’s local economies.
