Wins Ag Contest

          Davis Calhoun of Marlboro County (right) receives the keys to an Arctic Cat ATV as the winner of the 2001 SC Farm Bureau Young Farmer Discussion Meet.  Carl Derrick, Vice President of Sales for the SCFB Insurance Companies, presented the award at SCFB’s 58th Annual Meeting held recently in Myrtle Beach.

          The Young Farmer Discussion Meet is designed to encourage young farmers to speak out and voice their opinions on agricultural issues.

          As a grand prize for winning the state competition,    Davis received the Arctic Cat 4 wheel drive ATV compliments of Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company.  He also received $500 cash from the Dodge Division of Chrysler Motors, an ACRES Plus Marketing System subscription for one year, and a trip to the American Farm Bureau Federation Annual Meeting in Reno, Nevada, where he competed for national honors.
