Women's Leadership Programs

The Women's Leadership Program supports and adds strength to the overall mission of the South Carolina Farm Bureau. Their activities "tell the farm story" through education, leadership development, legislative activities, youth programs, and many promotional events. Women's programs on the county, state and national levels provide funding for Ag in the Classroom, scholarships, and agricultural research.

A biannual newsletter is published in the spring and fall to share ideas and to help communicate with SCFB Women volunteers. Below is a link to the newsletters:

Programs

Women's Leadership Conference and District Leadership Meetings

Provides seminars and workshops on issues of special concern to agriculture. Annual district meetings provide training, issue and event updates, as well as informal sharing on the state and county level.  Information about this year's conference is available here.

Farm City Week

Provides opportunities to educate the "farm and city folk" on their interdependence upon each other. For more information, contact your county Farm Bureau.

Food Check-Out Week

Celebrates the day each year (usually during early February) when Americans have earned enough disposable income to pay for the average family's yearly supply of food. The event celebrates the bounty of America's farms and how that bounty is shared with consumers through affordable food prices. Americans currently spend less than 11 percent of their disposable income on food.  For more information, contact your county Farm Bureau office or Vonne Knight.

Country Store at SCFB Annual Meeting

Showcases donated arts and craft items for sale SCFB Annual Meeting each December. Proceeds go to the SC Ag-in-the-Classroom Fund and the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture.

Youth Leadership Conference

Provides leadership training and team building skills to rising high school juniors and seniors. Information about this year's conference is available here.

Youth Ambassador Scholarship Program

Designed to surface young leaders to tell the farm story and to display to the public that interest in agriculture is alive and well. More information is available here.

Talent Contests

Develop self-esteem while recognizing outstanding entertainment skills. Contact your county Farm Bureau office for more information. Contest rules and application are available Download.

Legislative Awareness

Encourages women to become involved as grassroots lobbyists to support state and national legislation which may have a direct impact on agriculture or rural families.

Education in AG-tion!

Activities promote awareness and understanding of the farmers' role in food and fiber production.  EIA projects include the distribution of educational materials to schools.  Supported by the sale of the SC Farm Bureau Ladies and Gents Love to Cook cookbooks, Country Store, and Silent Auction activities at the SCFB Annual Conference in December at Myrtle Beach.

Cook Books

South Carolina Ladies and Gents Love to Cook! is the title of a cookbook from the SC Farm Bureau Women's Committee. Over 600 mouth-watering recipes from across the state are included in this hardback, concealed wire cookbook. The book also includes interesting agricultural facts throughout. The Golden Taste of South Carolina, South Carolina Farm Bureau's 50th Anniversery Cookbook, is also available once again.

Proceeds from the sale of cookbooks fund Education in AG-tion! projects to promote the awareness and recognition of the importance of our food and fiber sources.  Books retail for $20.00 each plus $5.00 shipping and handling.  Download an order form.  For sample recipes, click here.
