Young Farmer & Rancher Program

WHAT:

The SCFB Young Farmer and Rancher Program consists of Farm Bureau members between the ages of 18 and 35. We surface and train agricultural and agribusiness leaders to succeed in the workplace and on the farm, and to become knowledgeable advocates for agriculture. The three pilars of the SCFB YF&R Program are 1) relationship building 2) insight into policy development 3) leadership development

WHY:

The future of a safe, abundant, domestically produced food supply rests in the hands of young farm families who plan to till the soil, care for livestock, and work in ag-support industries for decades to come. Agriculture (including forestry) is South Carolina's largest business sector contributing about $42 billion and over 200,000 jobs to the state's economy. SCFB Young Farmers and Ranchers are the lifeblood of this vital industry in South Carolina.

HOW:

Farmer members between the ages of 18 and 35 are encouraged to join the Young Farmer & Rancher Program by contacting their county Farm Bureau. If you are not currently a member of Farm Bureau, membership is open to everyone (farmers and non-farmers alike) who support the work of family farmers and the value of rural lifestyles in South Carolina.
