In this episode, Farm Bureau's Voices of Agriculture host Reggie Hall visits the historic Springdale Racecourse in Camden, SC and puts the spotlight on the equine industry in the state with everything from Steeplechases to barrel races. Our featured restaurant for the Carolina Cooking segment is located close to the Springdale Racecourse, in the Boykin Mill Community. Mill Pond Steakhouse is among a cluster of buildings, stores and shops that look much as they might have looked when they were built in the 1700's and 1800's. Chef Jamie Hecker cooks up a dish using grits made right next door in a mill that has been around for 200 years. We'll also take a quick tour of that mill as well. Our Farmer Outstanding in the Field feature this episode features South Carolina Farm Bureau President and family farmer, David Winkles who delivered his annual state of Farm Bureau address to members during the organization's 66th annual meeting in Myrtle Beach, SC. In it, he talks about Farm Bureau grassroots accomplishments in 2009. Beautiful scenery, dotted with gorgeous horses, compose this episode's Palmetto Portrait.
